Starting 2026 right, I cast on a new cozy sweater. I decided to knit Andrea Mowry’s Nebula pullover. I love the whole relaxed aesthetic with its drop shoulder and generous ease. Short rows in the bottom back of the sweater adds a little extra length. Although I prefer top-down construction, this bottom up sweater has been a dream to knit up.

I’m using Cloudborn Fibers Alpaca Wool Silk DK in the color Charcoal Heather. You can never have enough gray sweaters, in my opinion. The yarn company Cloudborn Fibers unfortunately is no longer in production. They started as a Craftsy exclusive brand but then was discontinued. It’s really a shame because their yarn was beautiful and affordable. I was very lucky to purchase a large amount of their yarn before they ended. The Alpaca Wool Silk DK is super soft and has a nice drape which I feel like is a perfect choice for this sweater.

Although the pattern is beautifully designed as is, I did make some minor design changes. I was worried that the sweater would turn out too cropped for my taste so I added about 1.5 inches to the body before splitting for sleeves. The original pattern calls for a 1 inch rib crew neck but, maybe because of the frigid temperatures this winter, I felt like a turtle neck would raise the cozy level. The sleeves originally have no shaping until the cuff but I added some decreases along the way.
This has been a very enjoyable knit and I think that the end result will be a real favorite. I can’t wait to be finished just so I can wear it. My brain is already turning, trying to imagine my next project to cast on. The choices are almost endless with the size of my stash. Yesterday I dumped out all my yarn onto the floor and I was in shock at the sweater-quantities that I own. I know, what a problem to have, right? I’m very lucky to have accrued such a collection of beautiful yarn over many years, but it honestly made me feel like a bit of a hoarder. But that’s a discussion for another day.
